Luke 1:31
Luke 1:31
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
In this verse, the angel Gabriel announces a second miracle birth. The angel has appeared to a virgin, Mary, informing her that she will conceive. Despite Mary's willingness to obey God, there are still some questions that remain. Her trust in the angel's words is unconditional, but she will ask how God will accomplish this task. The answer is that her conception will be from the Holy Spirit. No name is more beautiful than the name of our Lord Jesus. His name is Joshua in Hebrew, which means "the Lord is salvation". Through His life and His death, Jesus paid the price for humanity's sins, that is, the sins of the past, the sins of the present, and the sins of the future. Here in Luke's Gospel, we read that the name of the Savior will be Jesus since He will save Israel from their sins. He may have the title of Christ, as He is the anointed one of God, and His title may be Lord, as He is high and lifted up in the temple, but He shall be called Jesus. Therefore, all families will be blessed through Him, for whoever trusts in Him as Savior, whether a Jew or Gentile, male or female, old or young, black or white, slave or free, all are children of God.
Matthew 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
John 16:21
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
Psalms 127:4
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Matthew 1:18
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
