Bebe's interpretation
Talking with God is powerful, but so is talking with ourselves. In the midst of a difficult day, the writer of this Psalm did not ignore his emotions. He was in touch with what was going on inside and dealt with it. "Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?" he asked himself. After stopping to listen to his heart, he began to redirect his attention to God, who is the source of true hope. As he encouraged himself in the Lord, he declared, “I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again!”
Like the Psalmist, we all go through times when we feel downcast and overwhelmed by the struggles of this world. At those times, we can choose either to let our emotions drag us down or to turn to the Lord and seek His help. Over the centuries, God has proven Himself faithful to His people time and time again. So, no matter how low you feel right now or how dark it seems, there is always hope. Our Lord has defeated death and paid the full price for our sins. So even death, the worst thing that could happen to us, cannot separate us from Him.
No matter what you're going through, don't be discouraged. The Lord is right there with you, and He will provide the answer. There is always hope in the Lord our God!
