When the sun shines, and things are going well, it is easy to praise the Lord and give Him thanks. But what about those days when we are sad and disappointed? Life throws us all kinds of pitches. It is possible to hit a home run and burst into joy; it is also possible to get hit. We don’t have any control over what is coming at us, but we do have control over how we respond to our circumstances. If we're afraid of the ball, dwelling on the possibility of getting hit, we won't have fun. But if we step up to the plate with joy because we get to play the game, then we can swing at those pitches with confidence and enjoy the process.
Each day of our lives is a new game that we get to play. We get to decide if we want to live by faith and joy or by fear and stress. Don't let what might happen take away the joy of each day. The Lord is in control. That is why the Psalmist said, "This is the day the Lord has made." If we believe that His plans for us are to prosper, we can trust in His faithful love and move forward without fear. When we feel doubtful, we can look to the cross and remember how much He loves us.
Every day that God gives us is a blessing. Rejoice and be glad in it!
