1 Peter 1:7
1 Peter 1:7
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
In this verse, Paul reveals that these trials that cause us grief have a purpose. Despite our distress, Peter explains that these trials can be beneficial: they test, purify, and prove our faith, not preventing us from rejoicing. Believers make a decision to trust God in and through trials. It strengthens our faith. Upon Christ's return, and once all come to understand the truth, He will be honored as the true Lord and King, and our faith in Him will be fully confirmed. Despite our difficulties today, we are preparing ourselves for a brighter tomorrow. The purpose of these exercises is to test our faith, to develop our faith, to hone our faith, and to increase our faith in our Heavenly Father. He values the faith of each of His children as more precious than fine gold, which will one day expire. In the same manner, as gold is purified by fire in order to remove all impurities, blemishes, and imperfections, the faith of a Christian should be pure, perfect, and unblemished. Trials in life are designed to purify our hearts, strengthen our faith in His promises, and increase our hope in the power of His Word.
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Psalms 27:13
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Psalms 20:7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
