1 John 3:17
1 John 3:17
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
God is love. His very nature and essence is love. He demonstrated His love towards us by giving us His only Son to die for our salvation, even when we were still sinners. When you receive Him into your life, you become like Him. His love overwhelms you, and you naturally become compassionate toward others. Love is an action word. It is more than a tingling sensation you feel inside. Instead, it's proven through a series of actions, especially giving. Just as God demonstrated love towards you when you were still wallowing in sin by giving Jesus, you must show it to everyone around you by giving. As a believer, you must understand that you are a conduit of God's blessings. God has entrusted His resources into your hands, not for you to show off by buying designer clothes and the latest cars, but to be a source of blessings to others. You were blessed to bless others, assisted to assist, and loved to love. You must be ready and willing to meet the needs of people around you according to how God has blessed you. The evidence that God's love dwells in you is your ability to show love to others. God's love is a moving force that flows from one soul to the next.
Matthew 15:32
And Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat.
Psalm 145:9
The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
Mark 6:34
And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
Psalms 111:4
He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
