1 Corinthians 12:13
1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Did you know that when you are born again, you undergo a spiritual baptism by the Holy Spirit? Often, we focus on a physical baptism – the physical immersion in water that publicly proclaims your faith in Jesus Christ. However, Paul tells us that we all have also been baptized into one body and made to drink one Spirit. No matter what your background, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or denomination is, we are all baptized into one family through the Holy Spirit of God. It means that we all can have fellowship together through that one Spirit, enjoying each other’s company and spiritual edification. This was amazing news to the people at the time when this was written due to the amount of segregation, especially between the Jews and the Gentiles. Instead of being apart, they were brought together by the Holy Spirit of God through baptism. The same message still applies to us today. We are all unified by that same Spirit and are called to be one, not many. Let us think on this truth and enjoy it as we fellowship together as one body!
Acts 11:16
Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Romans 6:3
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
