Isaiah 58:14
Isaiah 58:14
Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
As a teacher, you take pleasure in the academic prowess of your pupils. You can do anything to express your delight by rewarding them. Likewise, parents derive joy in the growth and development of their children. One can go the extra mile to satisfy their needs and ensure they are happy because they have gladdened our hearts. To enjoy the rewards of God's blessings, we must also take pleasure in the things that gladden His heart. Our love for God should be the underlying factor for wanting to please Him. Our desire to be in a loving relationship with Him should not be based solely on our predictions of what we can gain from the relationship but on His mercy and goodness. We delight ourselves in God when we do things that give Him joy and pleasure. God desires to be the most important personality in our lives. He is pleased when we have complete faith in Him and faithfully obeys His commands. He delights in justice and righteousness but hates iniquity. He takes pleasure when His children prosper and live in health. When we desire the things that are uppermost in His heart, and we will be aligned with His, we will be granted anything we ask for.
Psalms 119:16
I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
Psalms 64:10
The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
Psalms 119:47
I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
Psalms 119:24
Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.
