Romans 12:2
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
One of the greatest tragedies of any living or dead person is that they fail to discover the purpose of God for their lives. This is much like moping in darkness all your life. It could make your life a frustrating and emotionless journey. But thanks be to God, who has made a sure way for us to discover purpose and walk in it. In Romans 12:2, there is a trajectory of events. It reveals that to end at the place of knowing purpose – what is good and acceptable and perfect – begins with transformation. First, Paul admonishes us not to be conformed to this world. What does this mean? The word “world” here implies “age”. It means that there is a way things are done from generation to generation in this earthly realm, and believers must subscribe to a different curriculum. When Jesus came into the world, He made it clear that He was from above. When He died, rose, ascended, and sent the Holy Spirit, we obtained the status of being born again. This new reality gives us the privilege of being “from above” as children of God like Jesus (John 8:23). Now, what is left for believers to discover their purpose (spiritual and physical) is to be focused on where they have come from rather than where they have found themselves. Our minds must be renewed to see as clearly as God sees. This is the place of alignment with the will of God because we have the Spirit of God. When you allow your mind to be transformed by the Spirit of God, you come into discernment of God’s will. You will know what is good and acceptable and perfect in Christ.
Ezekiel 36:27
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Isaiah 43:18
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Psalms 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
1 Corinthians 15:53
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
