Psalms 36:5
Psalms 36:5
Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
A key element of God's character is love, which David describes as the first example. As he points out, God's love knows no bounds. It encompasses both the heavens and the lost world of sinners. In addition to God's love, His faithfulness knows no bounds. In David's description, this extends to the clouds. There is no failure on God's part in providing for His creatures. Every promise He makes, He keeps. Unregenerate persons are not capable of understanding this knowledge of God since they view the wisdom of God as foolishness. As a matter of fact, God's foolishness is wiser than man's wisdom, and His weakness is greater than man's combined strength. However, such understanding is sweet and strengthening for the sanctified soul since true knowledge of the Holy One arises from spiritual discernment. Knowing the Lord quickens our hearts, comforts our souls, informs our thoughts, and brings joy and peace into our lives. As the psalmist suggests, may our hearts be lifted in thanksgiving and praise in every moment of our transient lives because God's faithfulness extends beyond the clouds, His loyalty reaches into the sky, and His saving grace reaches into the eternal ages to come.
1 Peter 2:10
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Psalm 103:10
He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
Psalms 103:17
The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children.
Hosea 1:7
But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God.
