Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

  • Confidence
  • Faith
  • Hope
  • Trust
  • Salvation
Bebe's interpretation
How long does it take an infant to become a full-fledged adult? Does an individual have a role to play in his or her development? When you give your life to Christ, it is said that you are a new creature. You have a new spirit that has the nature of God. However, because man is tripartite, the only part of him that is new on conversion is the spirit. His soul needs to undergo refinement. It would require less effort for the body to surrender and execute God’s will if the soul and spirit are in sync with God.
This work of refinement that transforms the soul from the inside out is known as sanctification. Being sanctified is not limited to being made holy, set apart, and cleansed. It also involves conforming to the image of Christ and becoming like Him. It is the process of developing from babes in God to spiritually mature Christians. Childish ways are gotten rid of, old thought patterns and beliefs are dealt with, and we begin to think and act like Christ.
Ultimately, the purpose of this great work is to submit to God's will. However, to get this job done, we must cooperate in total obedience and submission to the Holy Spirit and the agency of the Word.
