Hebrews 1:3
Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Hebrews emphasizes the supremacy of Christ as a major theme. When faced with persecution, it is tempting to follow the crowd. At that time, Jewish Christians would have faced pressure to return to Judaism instead of continuing as Christians. Hebrews begins with four verses that introduce the idea that Jesus is the better way. Jesus' divinity is also supported by this verse. These words imply that Jesus Christ is, in fact, God. There is now a perfect Man, a member of the human race, seated at the right hand of the Divine Father, who sits on God's throne in the dazzling brightness of His radiant splendor. His hands and feet bear the scars of the nails that pierced His innocent flesh. By believing in the Name of the only begotten Son of God, Jesus accomplished all this so that you and I could be forgiven of our sins. Through His powerful Word, the Son has made purification for the sins of you and me. As He now sits at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He awaits the day when He will return to receive us into Himself so that, where He is, we may also be.
John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 3:14
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
John 8:23
And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
Luke 20:8
And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
