2 Chronicles 26:5
2 Chronicles 26:5
And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
Being rich is usually associated with pride and arrogance, which are sins God detests. It was believed in old times that humility is a virtue that is evident only in the poor, so the poor are more acceptable and closer to God. Recently, however, the churches seem to have grasped a new understanding of prosperity. People are beginning to see that God wants them to prosper, and He takes pleasure in it (Psalms 35:27). While it is true that God wants us to be fruitful and prosperous financially, He desires that we prosper in our health, our relationship with one another, and most importantly with Him. Seeking the Lord is one of the conditions a believer must meet if he or she desires this all-around prosperity. To seek the Lord means to desire His abiding presence, to inquire of Him about matters that are unclear to us (Psalms 27:4). We seek God in our heartfelt prayers and meditative study of His word. God wants us to prosper, but He also desires intimacy in our relationship with Him. As we grow in our relationship with God, He commands His blessings upon us, and everything we do prospers.
Exodus 20:2
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Psalms 100:3
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Hebrews 1:5
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Psalms 10:1
Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
