Psalms 119:114
Psalms 119:114
Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
There is a saying that my word is my bond. It literally means that I am bound by the words of my mouth to do something that has been promised. Words have a powerful effect, especially when they are spoken by someone who has authority. The words of a mighty man are capable of getting things done even in his absence. There were instances in Scripture where Jesus didn't need to be physically present for a miracle to take place. All he had to do was send the word, and it would deliver the same result as his presence. That's why the Bible says God gives honor to his word than his name. When we place our confident trust in God concerning any of his promises regarding a situation, we are putting pressure on His integrity to act on our behalf. God cannot be separated from His word because He is the Word. This implies that the word of God is capable of doing what His presence will do. The word of God is able to deliver on God's promises. When we maintain a good relationship with God via His word, we are assured of safety, security, and protection from our enemies. The power of His word assures us that every attack against us is neutralized and that we are victorious because God is our refuge and our greatest protector.
