1 Peter 2:9
1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Have you ever asked yourself why you are here on planet Earth? How would you define the essence of your existence? Many people, including believers, live their lives with a myopic view of the reason behind their existence. Some believe they are here to enjoy God’s numerous blessings, to populate the earth but few believers are aware of the task given to them. As God’s spirit children, the main purpose of our living on earth is to bring glory unto Him (1 Corinthians 10:31). With respect to this, Scripture calls the believer several names based on their function and responsibility on earth. We are called a chosen generation, selected by God before the foundations of the earth to be saved through His grace. We are called to be kings and priests, to rule the earth through His authority and power, and to enforce His will on the earth. We are a holy nation, consecrated and set apart to carry out His divine purposes. We are His special people bought by the price of His blood, saddled with the task of representing Him. Also, when we project the culture of God's kingdom through our godly virtues, we will be drawn to God and His name will be glorified.
