Bebe's interpretation
Has there been a time in your life when you had to let go of something you hold dear to you? Have you had to sacrifice something of the utmost importance for the greater good? The process of losing something or letting go is not an easy one because it is usually characterized by pain. Most of the time, the quest for greater things in life requires us to sacrifice something of great value. For anyone to achieve greater and outstanding success, they will have to sacrifice time, energy, resources, and many other things to attain his goals. We all desire excellence, but very few of us are willing to sacrifice comfort or pleasure to achieve it because it takes time and effort.
There is a higher life in God through Christ but many have refused to accept it because they are not ready to forsake their old ways. Some believers find it impossible to let go of the pleasures of this world nor endure discomfort, suffering or persecution for the sake of the kingdom. They are absorbed in the pleasures of this life and place a premium priority on the fleeting things of this world. Nothing should be too big, important or pleasurable that we cannot lay down for Christ. If God sacrificed His Son for many sons to come into his glory, Abraham was willing to sacrifice his beloved son for us to enjoy covenant blessings as a result, we should be able to let go for the cause of achieving the greater good.
