1 Peter 1:25
1 Peter 1:25
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
The Apostle Peter reminds the scattered believers in his letter that the word of the Lord endures forever. The message of the gospel, which was preached to them, is not temporary or fleeting but everlasting. Through their faith in Christ, they have been born again into a living hope and a sure inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. Therefore, Peter exhorts them to live holy lives, as they eagerly await their ultimate salvation. Throughout the Scriptures, from Genesis to the Revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are presented with God's gracious and redemptive program for fallen man, as recorded in the Bible. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again according to the Word of Truth, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish like grass in the field but receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. The Word of God is entirely truthful, and His eternal plan cannot be thwarted. Let us, therefore, praise God that we who have been saved by grace through faith in Him are the elect of God. But let us not forget that there are many who are dead in their sins and need to hear the truth of the glorious gospel of God, that they too may come to repentance and faith in Christ. May we be faithful in sharing the good news of salvation with all who will listen.
