1 John 4:13
1 John 4:13
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
In his first letter to the churches, the Apostle John emphasizes the importance of love and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. In chapter 4, he writes about the assurance that comes from knowing that we have the Spirit of God living in us. Through the Spirit's presence, we can have confidence that we belong to God and that He is working in us to produce His fruit in our lives. This verse serves as a reminder of the Holy Spirit's role in our lives as believers. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would empower certain individuals for specific ministries or offices but could withdraw if the person grieved or disobeyed the Lord. Even the presence of God left the temple in Jerusalem due to Israel's disobedience. However, in this Church dispensation, every believer in Jesus receives the incomparable gift of the permanently indwelling Holy Spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us. Despite no one having seen God, the Father sent the Holy Spirit to work through all who trust in the Son for salvation by grace through faith. This miraculous gift allows us to live in constant communion with God and fulfill His purposes in our lives.
Romans 5:15
But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
Romans 5:17
For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
2 Corinthians 4:15
For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
