Psalms 107:8
Psalms 107:8
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
This Psalm of thanksgiving and praise expresses the goodness of God and His everlasting mercy, as demonstrated through personal and national history. The Psalmist reflects on how God rescued His people from bondage, provided for them in the wilderness, released the captives, healed the sick, calmed the storms, and governed Israel with grace. All of these wonderful works of God are celebrated in this beautiful song of rejoicing. As believers, we can also sing this song of praise and thanksgiving because we, too, have been rescued from the bondage of sin and have received the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide and conform us to the image of Christ. God has supplied all our needs according to His riches in glory and has set our feet on the pathway of peace and righteousness. He hears and responds to our cries for help, satisfies our hunger, refreshes our souls, and leads us on the better way. The Psalmist invites us to join in giving thanks to the Lord for His wonderful works to the children of men. Let us praise the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls and declare His goodness to all those around us. May we never forget the countless ways that God has shown us His love, mercy, and grace, and may we always be quick to give Him the honor and glory that He deserves.
