Luke 11:11
Luke 11:11
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
If you are asked, how can you describe your relationship with your parents, especially your father? How do you perceive God with regard to your personal relationship with Him? Our perception of God affects how we relate to Him, probably because of the way we describe Him. When we talk about God, we tend to use words that depict his power and supremacy, and so we seem to have this master-servant relationship with Him. It is true that God is Lord and ruler over all, but there's more to him than leadership. He is also a loving and caring Father who desires the best for His children. God, as a loving Father, seeks to bless His children and give them their heart desires when a demand is made. We know from scripture that it is not in God's nature to withhold good things from His people. However, there are instances when we make requests for certain things that seem good to us but are not the best for us. No sane parent gives a child the gift of a car. The gesture is good, but it is not of good advantage or benefit to the child. His love for us restrains Him from giving us gifts that would bring harm to us even though they are good.
Psalm 40:1
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 Peter 3:8
But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
James 5:7
Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain.
Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
