Ephesians 5:19
Ephesians 5:19
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Life may try to strangle the last strain of hope we have. We fall prey to different temptations on a daily basis, and sometimes, life's troubles take no mercy. This reality inspired the apostle to write this piece of encouragement to the Ephesian church. Despite the darkness and the difficulties that we face every day, there is a way to retain strength. This strength can come from speaking to ourselves in hymns and psalms and singing spiritual songs. Psalms are sacred songs of poetic composition used in the praise and worship of God. We have a hundred and fifty powerful Psalms in the Scriptures from which to draw strength. Hymns are also songs of worship and praise to God. We have many of these compiled for easy consumption. They all contain powerful spiritual songs that elevate the spirit. They can be sacred chants or other godly music – contemporary or classical. It doesn’t matter what genre, so long as they are verified spiritual songs that praise and worship the Lord. Singing these songs with an open heart of worship and praise to God will, in turn, affect you positively. It’s not just for the praise and worship of God. When songs arise from a heart of sincere praise and worship, the glory of God shows up. When His glory comes, everything is restored, and life bubbles. So, the next time you are at church or gathering with the brethren, don't hold back when you sing them.
1 Chronicles 16:23
Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Psalms 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Psalms 111:1
Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
