2 Corinthians 1:11
2 Corinthians 1:11
Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
Prayer is an effective weapon that assures the believer of victory. Personal prayers help us build our relationship with God and keep us in tune with Him. When, as believers, we engage in the activity of prayer together, we activate tremendous dynamic power. The power of corporate prayers can be seen in a story in the book of Acts 12. Apostle Peter was held captive by King Herod after the latter succeeded in killing John. The prayers of the church interceding for him were answered by the miraculous release of Peter through the angel of God (Acts 12:1-17). Believers should not be selfish in their prayers; we should not just look out for our needs alone. We should learn the art of interceding for others and trust God to answer. Scriptures tell us to pray for all men, especially those in the house of faith (1 Timothy 2:1-3). This is one way in which we can bear one another’s burdens, lifting our brethren up in our prayers. Praying for others in affliction can help lessen their pain, give them the strength to pull through, heighten their hope, and move God to act on their behalf for deliverance. When we pray for the brethren, our love for them grows, thereby fostering the unity of the body of Christ.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
James 1:14
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed.
1 Corinthians 10:21
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils ye cannot be partakers of the Lord s table, and of the table of devils.
Hebrews 2:18
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
