Romans 12:21
Romans 12:21
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Have you ever felt absolutely overcome by evil? Do you just feel like your sin has taken over, and there are so many things going on in your life that are working against you for evil? Many times, our initial response to this is to focus on the evil and relieve it. If you can fight the battle head-on with sheer willpower, that must work, right? Yet what we find here in Romans chapter 12 is a different story. Paul writes here that we shouldn’t be overcome by evil but rather overcome evil with good. Instead of just fighting evil and trying to be free of it, we should fight evil by doing good. We need to do something to counter it, not just try to get away from it. When you focus on Jesus, focus on what is good, and do what is good, evil tends to run and hide. However, when you just try to stop evil without doing good, it simply advances. Do not be overcome by evil. Instead, overcome evil by doing good in your own life and embracing the ultimate good, Jesus Christ.
Proverbs 11:27
He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
Amos 5:15
Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate.
Psalms 34:21
Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
Psalms 97:10
Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
