For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

In this verse, God affirms the promise that He has a plan for our lives and, regardless of our current circumstances, can work through it to prosper us and give us hope.
God still has a plan for all of His children in the future. The plan of redemption of Jesus is intended to give everyone who believes a future filled with hope, not tragedy that will destroy them. Even though we may stray far away from the Lord, He still desires the best for His children. Only by abandoning the destructible securities of this world and relying entirely on Christ will we be freed from this world's slavery.
We can have the assurance that whatever we may have to face in this day and age, God's thoughts toward us are only for our good, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give us an expected end.
