Ephesians 6:10
Ephesians 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Paul introduces the overall motivation for his instructions in this verse. Specifically, the secret of Christians’ victory is never in our own efforts but entirely in our trust in the Lord. Only by His mighty power can we be strong. We have access to tremendous heavenly blessings through Christ Jesus. In spite of this, every true believer soon realizes that we live in a world in which we are engaged in a war within the spiritual realm. It requires a supernatural power that is beyond our human limitations, which comes from the Lord. In our own strength, we cannot stand up to the evil plots and cruel strategies of the enemy. The Lord, however, is able to strengthen us through the power of His might. Our strength comes only when we are aware of our weaknesses, inabilities, and ineffectiveness. In fact, God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of this world to confound the strong. It is only when we recognize our weaknesses and die to ourselves that we will be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
1 Chronicles 29:11
Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.
2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Psalms 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
