Colossians 3:17
Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
As Christians, we represent Christ at all times - whatever we do, whatever we say, and wherever we go. The way we behave and speak affects others' perceptions of Christ, so we should always conduct ourselves in a way that brings honor and glory to the Lord. In this verse, Paul urges us to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God through Him in all situations. To say and do everything in Jesus' name is to respect the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ in every activity of our lives. When we speak or act out of the desires of our flesh and our pride, we are telling God that we are in charge of our lives, not Him. Many Biblical stories warn us of the misery we will experience when we choose to follow our own path rather than God's. So choose wisely! It's a tradition to end our prayers in Jesus's name. Why? Because it is through Jesus that we are saved and have a new life. Without Him, we would still be prisoners of sin and an object of God's wrath. Without Him, we would have no hope of approaching the throne of God the Father to give thanks. It's through His sacrifice that we have the opportunity and privilege to give thanks to God. In everything you do, do it from your heart and do it for the glory of the Lord Jesus!
