Bebe's interpretation
Bread is used as a symbol of God's supply of life throughout the Bible. When Jesus said to the hungry crowd that He was the Bread of Life, He was teaching His disciples that He alone was their genuine source of spiritual life. Jesus stands for the Bread of Life, which never spoils, runs out, or perishes.
We often let food occupy our thoughts and fill up our activities. But deep inside each of us, there is a hunger, a hunger of the soul. This hunger cannot be satisfied by food or drink. It can only be satiated by Jesus.
Instead of saying He has the bread of life, Jesus said He is the bread of life. He is the source of eternal life, and anyone who comes to Him will never experience hunger or thirst. Christ satisfies our spiritual thirst and hunger because He is the Living Water and the Bread of Life from heaven. May we feed every day on the Bread of Life in faith and thanksgiving as we journey through life, for He alone is our life-sustainer.
