2 Timothy 4:7
2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Is there ever a time when you feel that you fought a good fight and survived something so hard? Do you remember a time when you felt so satisfied with your achievement that you could say you had done well? Can you envision yourself looking back one day and saying that you have lived a wonderful life? In the final days of Paul's life, he could confidently say that he had remained faithful to his calling. As a result, he could face death calmly, knowing that he would be rewarded by Christ. The same reward is available to us as well! Christians have three duties to fulfill: (1) participate in spiritual warfare; (2) finish the heavenly course; and (3) stand firm in the faith. Paul gave these words to encourage Timothy and us so that no matter how difficult the fight seems, we can keep fighting. When we are with Christ, everything we experience for Christ's sake - abuse, discouragement, or persecution, is worth it. Let's live each day in light of eternity and fight the good fight of our faith. God will reward us for our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Hebrews 10:36
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Matthew 10:22
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Romans 5:3
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
James 5:11
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
