Proverbs 13:3
Proverbs 13:3
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
One of the most difficult yet most important things one can learn is how to control one's words. The book of Proverbs repeats this lesson. Those who speak without thinking or without control may make rash promises that they do not keep. As a result, he may insult others, lie, reveal secrets, or give unsound advice. He will suffer the consequences of his careless, harsh language. Those who guard their mouths and the words they utter will be able to avoid trouble and preserve their lives. In contrast, those whose lips are open in a careless cackling will suffer disastrous consequences. In this regard, it is extremely important to ensure that all of the conversation that flows from our lips is always seasoned with grace and salt so that we may know the appropriate response to each individual. Christ Jesus is the perfect example of a person whose words were gracious and kind, wise and instructive. He spoke the truth in love. Through the Word of God and meditation on His wisdom, we will not only guard our mouth from evil but also pour out His words of healing and help to others until it is no longer I who speak, but Christ who does so for me.
Luke 21:15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
Luke 1:78
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
Proverbs 3:7
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Proverbs 19:8
He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
