James 1:22
James 1:22
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Do you often remember the sermon from Sunday services a week earlier? Attending weekly bible studies is great, but do you apply what you've learned to your daily life? Although we all seem to hear well, and we often agree with what we hear, the question remains - What are we doing with the words that God is speaking to us? Faith is a work in progress! It is impossible to grow our faith without taking action. God's word is not just for listening; it is for us to follow and act upon. We can talk to God all day long and quote as many scriptures as we want, but if we are only hearing and not applying and obeying the Word of God daily in our lives, we are just making noises and fooling ourselves. God doesn't care about our rituals or traditions. He wants our obedience to His commands. He wants us to not only be hearers of His Word but also doers!
Deuteronomy 5:33
Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
1 Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
