1 Corinthians 3:3
1 Corinthians 3:3
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Envy can cause division and strife in relationships, leading us to act in ways that reflect our carnal nature rather than the spirit of peace and humility. When we allow ourselves to be driven by jealousy or competition, we walk as the world does, responding with selfish motives instead of seeking reconciliation or unity. True humility, grounded in the love of Christ, calls us to a different standard. We are encouraged to lay aside the impulses of envy and instead pursue peace and understanding in our relationships. The peace that comes from God is not something that can be manufactured by human effort but is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. To walk in humility is to honor others above ourselves, not driven by what we can gain or how we compare, but seeking unity in Christ. As believers, we are called to be set apart, reflecting Christ's love in our interactions and showing the world a better way to resolve differences and live in harmony.
Proverbs 14:30
A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Galatians 5:26
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Proverbs 24:1
Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
James 4:5
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
