1 John 2:16
1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
The arrogance, pride of life is a temptation that leads us away from God. It encourages us to pursue fleeting desires of the flesh, focused on material wealth, status, and personal achievement. Yet, these desires are not from the Father; they are rooted in a fallen world that seeks to draw us away from the eternal things of God. The world’s version of arrogance, pride is a pursuit of what is temporary, while God calls us to set our hearts on things that last. The arrogance, pride of life is a dangerous trap that leads to emptiness, as it encourages us to place our hope in things that ultimately fade away. Temptation often presents itself as an alluring promise of satisfaction, but only God's truth can fill the longing of our hearts. The desires of the flesh and the arrogance, pride of life ultimately lead to sin, but when we align our lives with God's will, we find true fulfillment. God calls us to reject the empty promises of this world and to live humbly, focused on His eternal kingdom, which is far greater than any arrogance, pride or temptation this world has to offer.
Proverbs 26:12
Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Proverbs 16:18
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Daniel 4:37
Those who walk in arrogance, pride he is able to humble.
Proverbs 16:5
Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord.
