1 John 3:16
1 John 3:16
By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us.
The cross is the ultimate demonstration of love. In this verse, John reminds us that Christ laid down His life for us, and this act of sacrificial love defines what true love is. The love demonstrated on the cross is not merely an emotion but an action—Jesus took our sins upon Himself and bore the punishment we deserved. His death on the cross was the price of our salvation, showing that love often requires sacrifice. It is through Christ’s sacrifice that we can experience the depth of God’s grace and forgiveness. As believers, we are called to love others in the same way—sacrificially and selflessly. The love of God, shown in Christ's death, is the foundation of our salvation, and it calls us to love others as Christ has loved us. This love transcends all human understanding and becomes the defining characteristic of the Christian life.

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world.
