1 Peter 4:7
1 Peter 4:7
The end of all things is at hand be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
In times of uncertainty and difficulty, self-control is essential, and this verse calls us to be sober-minded and watchful in prayer. When we practice sobriety, we become more aware of the spiritual battles around us, giving us the clarity to stay focused on God’s will. Prayer helps us stay connected to God, drawing strength from His presence and seeking guidance in every situation. Watchfulness in prayer keeps us vigilant and ready for the challenges ahead, allowing us to respond with faith and wisdom. Self-control in this context means resisting distractions and staying focused on the most important task—remaining in constant communion with God through prayer. Worship becomes an act of vigilance, where we remain spiritually alert, trusting that God’s power will sustain us through every trial and that His guidance will lead us toward victory.
2 Peter 1:8
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:6
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others but let us watch and be sober.
1 Corinthians 9:25
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown but we an incorruptible.
Psalm 141:3
Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
