2 Peter 1:6
2 Peter 1:6
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance.
Growing in faith requires the addition of virtues like knowledge, virtue, and temperance. Temperance, or self-control, helps us stay grounded as we pursue knowledge and virtue, ensuring that our faith is not just theoretical but lived out in practical ways. By adding temperance to our faith, we learn to manage our desires and emotions, giving us the ability to navigate life with wisdom and discernment. This allows us to respond to life’s challenges with patience and strength, rather than being led by impulse or selfish desires. As we grow in knowledge, our self-control deepens, allowing us to live with integrity and wisdom. Worship becomes an act of active participation in this process, where we seek to align our actions with our beliefs, trusting that the Holy Spirit will help us grow in virtue and temperance. In doing so, we reflect Christ more fully in our daily lives.
2 Peter 1:8
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 4:7
The end of all things is at hand be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
1 Corinthians 9:25
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown but we an incorruptible.
1 Thessalonians 5:6
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others but let us watch and be sober.
