Acts 13:3
Acts 13:3
And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
Acts 13:3 illustrates the early church’s commitment to fasting and prayer as they sought God’s guidance in selecting leaders for service. The apostles and believers fasted and prayed earnestly before laying hands on those who were to be sent out on mission. This act of fasting shows their dependence on God’s guidance, recognizing that every decision should be made in alignment with His will. Fasting and prayer work together to deepen our relationship with God and strengthen our discernment in following His direction. The church fasted to seek God’s wisdom and to dedicate their service to Him, demonstrating that every action, even in ministry, must be rooted in prayer and fasting. This example encourages us to approach decisions in our lives with the same commitment, using fasting and prayer to seek divine guidance and to prepare our hearts for God’s calling.
