Ecclesiastes 5:2
Ecclesiastes 5:2
Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God.
This verse serves as a powerful caution against rash speech, especially when it comes to our communication with God. Being hasty with our words can lead to careless promises, miscommunications, or insincere prayers. The Scriptures teach that God desires our hearts to be in alignment with our words. When we approach God, it is vital that we do so with reverence and thoughtfulness, understanding that He is not only the Creator but also the One who hears and responds to our every word. The act of hastily speaking or rushing into prayer without reflection can be a sign of disrespect or a lack of true understanding of God’s holiness. This verse encourages us to be slow to speak and quick to listen. Our relationship with God is not a transaction but a conversation. Taking the time to reflect, to listen to His voice, and then respond thoughtfully will deepen our intimacy with Him and ensure that our words are pleasing to Him.

Psalm 42:11
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Exodus 16:2
And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.
