Ecclesiastes 7:20
Ecclesiastes 7:20
For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Sin is a reality in every person’s life, and this verse highlights that even the most righteous among us are still subject to sin. No one can claim to be without fault or to have reached a state of perfect goodness. This acknowledgment of human imperfection serves as a call to humility and repentance. We are reminded that our efforts to do good are always marred by our fallen nature, and thus, we continually need the grace of God. The recognition of our sinfulness should drive us to seek God’s mercy and forgiveness, not to trust in our own righteousness. This verse challenges us to abandon any sense of self-righteousness and to rely solely on the grace of God for our justification. It also points to the necessity of Christ’s work on the cross, through which we can be forgiven and made righteous before God. Our sin may be a constant struggle, but God’s grace is greater, and His forgiveness is freely given to those who repent and believe.
Amos 5:15
Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate.
Psalms 97:10
Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
1 Peter 4:15
Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
Psalms 37:27
Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
