Exodus 20:16
Exodus 20:16
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Bearing false witness is a sin that destroys relationships and communities. The commandment to not bear false witness against our neighbor is a call to live in honesty and integrity, upholding the truth in all of our interactions. Lies and false accusations tear apart the trust and unity that God desires for His people. As followers of Christ, we are called to be peacemakers, spreading truth and love wherever we go. When we speak falsely about others, we not only harm them but also dishonor God. We must choose to speak words that reflect God’s character, words that are true, loving, and edifying. Honoring this commandment helps us maintain strong relationships and fosters an atmosphere of trust and unity in the body of Christ.
Proverbs 25:18
A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth.
Psalm 119:29
Remove from me the way of lying and grant me thy law graciously.
Psalm 120:2
Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue.
