Exodus 20:17
Exodus 20:17
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Coveting is one of the many ways that sin can entangle our hearts. When we desire what belongs to others—whether it be material possessions or relationships—we allow our hearts to be led astray. This verse commands us not to covet our neighbor’s wife or anything else that belongs to them, reminding us that God has called us to be content with what He has given us. Living in obedience to His commandments brings peace and satisfaction, knowing that we do not need to seek fulfillment in the things of this world. Instead, we are called to trust in God’s provision, recognizing that He is the ultimate source of all that is good. The key to resisting covetousness is cultivating a heart of gratitude and contentment in all circumstances.
Romans 13:14
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
Psalm 119:9
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
1 Corinthians 6:13
Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
Romans 6:12
Do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its evil desires.
