Galatians 3:27
Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Baptism is a profound symbol of the believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ" (Galatians 3:27) speaks to the transformative power of baptism. It is not merely a ritual or outward act; it is a spiritual reality. Through baptism, believers are publicly declaring that they have died to their old life and have been raised to a new life in Christ. The imagery of "putting on Christ" signifies that the believer is now clothed in His righteousness, completely identified with Jesus. This verse highlights the change that occurs in the life of a believer when they are baptized. They are no longer defined by their past sins but by their new identity in Christ. Baptism marks the beginning of a new life in Christ, a life empowered by the Holy Spirit. This passage serves as a reminder to believers that baptism is not just a one-time event, but a daily walk of putting on the character of Christ and living in accordance with His will.
1 Corinthians 6:11
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Peter 3:21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 3:13
Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
