Hebrews 12:6
Hebrews 12:6
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Hebrews 12:6 reminds us that God disciplines those He loves, and this principle extends to earthly fathers as well. Discipline, though often difficult, is an act of love. Just as God chastens His children to help them grow and mature in faith, fathers are called to discipline their children with the same loving intention. It is through discipline that a child learns to avoid harmful behaviors and embraces the path of wisdom and righteousness. This form of love is not punitive but corrective, aimed at shaping the child’s character and guiding them toward godliness. Fathers are called to discipline in a way that reflects God’s heart—a heart that desires the best for His children, even if it means going through moments of correction. The loving discipline of a father helps to mold a child into someone who understands the importance of obedience, respect, and personal responsibility. As children grow, they may not always understand the purpose behind discipline, but the love behind it will leave a lasting impression that will influence their future decisions and relationships.
Proverbs 4:1
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
Colossians 3:21
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
Proverbs 29:17
Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
Proverbs 19:13
A foolish son is the calamity of his father and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
