Hosea 4:11
Hosea 4:11
For wine and new wine take away the understanding.
Proverbs makes it clear that “wine and new wine take away the understanding.” The message here is that excessive drinking dulls the mind, leading to poor decisions and spiritual confusion. Alcohol may seem to offer temporary relief or joy, but in the end, it takes away clarity, wisdom, and discernment. This passage emphasizes the importance of being sober-minded and spiritually alert. As believers, we are called to keep our minds clear, focused on God's Word, and attuned to His will. Anything that impairs our judgment or leads us into sinful behaviors is something to avoid. The call to sobriety is not just about physical intoxication but also about guarding our hearts and minds from the distractions and temptations of this world.
Romans 13:13
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
2 Timothy 4:5
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:.
Titus 2:3
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things.
1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
