James 1:14
James 1:14
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed.
Temptation arises when we are drawn away by our own desires and lusts. This verse underscores the internal nature of temptation. It is not merely external circumstances that lead us astray, but our own desires and the enticements of the world. Lust, when left unchecked, leads to sin, but we are called to practice self-control. Temptation is a battle of the will, and in order to overcome it, we must be vigilant and disciplined. Sin often begins in the heart with unchecked desires, and this verse calls us to examine our hearts, to root out sinful desires, and to resist their pull. By strengthening our self-control through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can avoid falling into sin and stand firm against temptation.
Luke 11:4
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Philippians 2:15
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation.
Matthew 4:1
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
