James 4:12
James 4:12
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
James teaches here that there is only one true lawgiver—God. He alone has the power to save and destroy. This reminds us of the limits of human authority and the need for humility. It is not for us to assume the role of judge over others; we are called to live under God's law, which brings salvation and life. In our own lives, we must avoid becoming self-righteous or judgmental toward others, recognizing that only God has the final say. The lawgiver's authority is not to be usurped by human pride. This verse challenges us to live with a heart of humility, submitting ourselves to God's law, trusting that He alone is capable of saving and judging according to His perfect will.
John 12:48
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Matthew 11:24
But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
Romans 2:6
Who will render to every man according to his deeds.
John 3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
