John 6:54
John 6:54
Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
Jesus’ words in this verse focus on the radical and life-transforming nature of what it means to truly follow Him. The act of feeding on His flesh and drinking His blood symbolizes a deep, personal participation in the life He offers—eternal life. This is not merely a physical action but a profound spiritual truth about accepting Christ's sacrificial work and internalizing it. In other words, by embracing Jesus’ body and blood, believers are united with Him in a profound way. This unity brings about eternal life, not only as a future promise but as a present reality that begins the moment we trust in Him. The phrase "I will raise him up on the last day" reminds us of the resurrection that believers will experience when Christ returns. In the meantime, we are spiritually nourished and sustained by His sacrifice. Jesus promises that those who participate in Him, by faith and through the symbolic act of communion, are assured of eternal life and an intimate relationship with Him. This is the essence of the gospel: that through Jesus’ body and blood, we are made alive spiritually and given the hope of resurrection.
1 Corinthians 11:23
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread.
1 Corinthians 11:25
This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.
John 6:32
And he said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
1 Corinthians 10:16
Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ.
