Luke 18:16
Luke 18:16
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Jesus’ statement in this passage is both an invitation and a challenge. He calls the little children to come to Him, breaking down social barriers that often sought to exclude those considered less significant, like children. In a culture that sometimes overlooked the value of children, Jesus gives them a place of honor by welcoming them to His presence. This invitation extends beyond children of that day—it’s a call to all of us to approach Jesus with the humility, simplicity, and trust that children naturally exhibit. Jesus' love for children symbolizes the love He has for all of us—He desires that we come to Him freely, without barriers, with hearts full of trust and openness. In the Kingdom of God, the innocent and pure-hearted are often the greatest in the eyes of God. Jesus shows us that the path to His Kingdom is not paved with self-righteousness or pride, but with childlike faith and dependence on Him. This verse serves as a powerful reminder that God's love is available to all, regardless of age or societal status, and it challenges us to examine our own hearts, to cultivate childlike faith, and to embrace the invitation to come to Jesus with sincerity and openness.
