Luke 2:16
Luke 2:16
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. This verse from Luke 2:16 describes the shepherds’ immediate response to the angelic announcement of Jesus’ birth. Upon hearing that the Savior had been born in Bethlehem, they hurried to see Him for themselves. The humble scene they found—Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus lying in a manger—was a far cry from what one might expect for the birth of a King. Yet, this humble setting was the fulfillment of prophecy and the manifestation of God's grace. The shepherds were the first to receive the good news of Jesus' birth, and their eager visit shows their excitement and reverence for the Savior. The manger, a feeding trough for animals, was a symbol of humility, which would define Jesus' entire life. He came not to be served but to serve, and this moment in the manger marks the beginning of His humble journey. The shepherds’ response is an example of how we are to respond to the message of Christ: with eagerness, faith, and joy. Their visit also reveals that Jesus’ birth was for all people, not just the wealthy or powerful, but for the poor and humble as well.
Galatians 4:4
But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
