Matthew 12:36
Matthew 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
The importance of words cannot be overstated. Jesus warns that every idle word spoken will be accounted for in the judgment. Our words reflect the condition of our hearts, and they can either build up or tear down. This verse serves as a powerful reminder to guard our speech, ensuring that our words reflect the integrity of our faith and commitment to truth. God has given us speech as a means of communication, but with this gift comes the responsibility to use it wisely. In the judgment, we will give account not only for our actions but for the words that have flowed from our mouths. This should inspire believers to be mindful of their speech, seeking to speak life and truth into the world, and to avoid idle chatter or harmful language.
James 4:12
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
Ecclesiastes 12:14
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Jeremiah 17:10
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
