Proverbs 15:23
Proverbs 15:23
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good is it.
The joy that comes from a timely and thoughtful response is a powerful reminder of the importance of wisdom in our speech. A word spoken in due season, at the right moment and with the right intention, has the power to bring peace, understanding, and healing. This verse emphasizes the value of speaking at the right time, not just at any time. Words can be most effective when they are spoken with timing and purpose. This requires sensitivity to the needs of others and the ability to discern when a word of encouragement, comfort, or correction is most needed. It also requires patience, as we must wait for the right moment, trusting that God will guide us to speak when it is most impactful. The joy of a well-timed word is not just the joy of the recipient, but also the joy of the speaker, knowing that their words have been used wisely to meet a need. This verse encourages us to be slow to speak but quick to recognize when the right word is required. It’s an invitation to cultivate a spirit of discernment and attentiveness in our relationships, so that our speech can be both timely and effective in building up others.
