Proverbs 15:33
Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Respect and honor come from a place of wisdom, and wisdom itself is rooted in humility. When we live with a sense of reverence, we acknowledge the depth of knowledge that comes with humility. Wisdom teaches us that honor isn’t something to be demanded or taken; it’s something to be earned through integrity and a humble heart. In a world often focused on self-promotion, humility shows a different way—one where honor is the result of living with respect and faith. This respect isn’t just toward others, but also toward oneself, acknowledging our place within a larger story. Wisdom born from humility fosters a respect that brings honor not by force, but through understanding and compassion.
Luke 22:26
But the one who is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like one who serves.
Proverbs 16:19
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
James 4:15
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Proverbs 22:4
The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.
